Are you passionate about women’s rights in Africa, excited about African feminism, and embrace African women’s diversities? Are you motivated to drive sustainable resourcing into African women’s rights?

After eight amazing years of guiding new development and impact for AWDF, our current CEO is moving and enabling new leadership to drive AWDF in a new phase of consolidation and growth. We are seeking an exceptional new Chief Executive Officer to lead AWDF’s dedicated team of staff as we work to shape Africa’s future.

AWDF is a grant-making foundation that supports local, national and regional women’s organisations working towards the promotion and realisation of African women’s rights. We invest in the power of African women, organisations and movements to drive equality and justice. By specialising in grant-making and focused, tailored movement-building programmes, we work to promote, support and amplify African women’s organising.

Reporting to the Board Chair, the Chief Executive Officer has overall responsibility of overseeing the implementation and further development of AWDF’s Strategic Framework in line with its vision, mission and values. You will work in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Senior Management Team and other external stakeholders, driving vision and implementation, effectively managing resources and promoting AWDF visibility through strategic partnerships, innovative programming, fundraising and feminist leadership principles.

You will be a dedicated, creative and accountable feminist leader with a strong alignment to our mission and values. You will bring proven leadership experience gained on the African continent and globally, and a strong understanding of women’s leadership and women’s rights to be an authentic advocate for AWDF and to promote African women as active agents of change.
