West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer gestures to clear the screen as Indian batsmen were disturbed by spectator movement during the third and final one-day international cricket match of the series between India and West Indies in Cuttack, India, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019.

Veteran all-rounder Andre Russell has been recalled to the West Indies team for the two-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka in March.

Fit-again Russell has earned the recall and is now set to feature for the first time since he limped out of West Indies’ ill-rated ICC 50-over World Cup campaign in England last June with a knee injury.

He has not represented West Indies in a Twenty20 International in 19 months.

The selectors have also recalled Test and ODI batting star, Shai Hope, fast bowler Oshane Thomas and left-arm spinning all-rounder Fabian Allen to the 14-man squad.

Hope last played against Afghanistan in November before missing the series against India and Ireland.

Making a return to the West Indies squad is Shimron Hetmyer, who was left out the ongoing one-day series in Sri Lanka after failing a fitness test last month. Chief selector Roger Harper said Hetmyer has since attained the required fitness level, becoming available for selection and has been included in the squad.
