Hey! Any news for far flung places : Tiwi islands ….Norfolk island etc??
The Tiwi Islands are all good, Just wondering!
According to the NT Government website, on June 5, in line with the “Commonwealth Government’s decision to lift the designated Biosecurity areas in the Northern Territory, the Executive Director of Township Leasing lifted the restrictions of entry into Wurrumiyanga, Wurankuwu, Milikapiti, and Pirlangimpi”.
“The Tiwi Land Council has also decided to recommence granting permits. Persons wanting to access Aboriginal Land in the Tiwi Islands outside of the listed townships, and who do not meet the requirements of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976, must apply for a permit from the Tiwi Land Council,” the website reads.
As for Norfolk, they’ve banned entry to anyone from Victoria, NSW or the ACT, and anyone who has stayed overnight in these states on their way to the remote island.
In response to the unprecedented threat posed by coronavirus, a state of emergency remains in force until December 31 or until revoked, according to Norfolk Island Regional Council.
