The High Court in Pretoria has ruled that the liquidation of SA Express will be postponed to September 9.

This follows a request by the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) that there be such a postponement.

There might be a plan to rescue SA Express by injecting more cash to re-start its operations.

The airline’s Business Rescue Practitioners also support the postponement.

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan will on Tuesday brief the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) regarding the future of the airline.

In the video below, Pilot Lebohang Matlala who was part of the picket outlines his grievances:

Meanwhile, South African Airways (SAA) business rescue practitioners have requested yet another extension from creditors to submit their final plan.

This, in order to allow unions more time to study the document.

The deadline was Monday.

The national carrier was placed under business rescue in December 2019 due to amongst other things, mismanagement of funds.

In the video below, business analyst Khaya Sithole shares his analysis on the situation at SAA
