Families need to confirm their income by lodging a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
You need to do this by 30 June 2020 if you got FTB or CCS in the 2018-19 financial year. If you don’t both of the following will happen:
- you’ll miss out on your FTB supplements and top ups for that year
- your CCS will reduce to zero from 13 July.
You may also have to repay all the FTB and CCS you got for the 2018-19 financial year. This includes FTB and CCS paid directly to you, and CCS paid on your behalf to a child care provider.
If you or your partner don’t need to lodge a tax return, you need to tell us and confirm your family income. To ‘Advise non-lodgement of a tax return’ you can use either:
You can also call the Families line and say ‘non-lodger’ when we ask why you called.
If you have a partner, they need to confirm their income too.
If you’ve already confirmed your family income for 2018-19, there’s nothing else you need to do.
If you’re not able to confirm your family income by 30 June 2020, call the Families line.
