LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Mar. 29(PIA)– Mayor Romeo Salda has placed the entire municipality under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) from March 30 to March 31, 2020 following the confirmation of two COVID-19 positive cases in the capital town by the Department of Health on Saturday.
In his Executive Order No. 18 issued on March 28,Salda stated the need for contact tracing by the municipal health personnel, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Detection Group and other law enforcement agencies, of people that the two positive cases may have come in contact with to prevent the spread of the virus in the communities.
The two cases in La Trinidad are 34 year old female Overseas Filipino worker inform Hongkong and a 6 year old girl with travel history in Calabarzon. Both are in stable condition.
During the implementation of the EECQ from 12:01AM of March 30 to 12:00 midnight of March 31, all establishments will be closed except sari-sari stores in the barangays which may open from 9AM to 1PM only. The window period for the residents to go to the market and groceries and to attend to other necessities is suspended and will resume on April 1.
Travel passes will not be issued during the two-day EECQ.
All checkpoints will be closed to vehicles except for the national highway’s stretch of road from Shilan to Km. 3. All barangay and provincial roads and alternate routes will be closed.
Health workers, frontliners, and those on an emergency may travel provided they take the national road.
The Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center and the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post will also be closed during the EECQ. All vehicles with vegetables will traverse the national road unhampered but without unloading their cargo within the municipality.
Salda said they have already informed other local government units in Benguet to advise their farmers on the implementation of the EECQ. All vegetable trading activities will resume at 5:30 AM on April 1, 2020.
The officials of La Trinidad continue to remind the residents to stay at home and to follow the community quarantine guidelines as these are the best ways that they can help in preventing the further spread of the dreaded COVID-19 in the municilpality. (JDP/RMC-PIA CAR)
