The Trelawny police say they are now awaiting a post mortem to determine the cause of death of a hotel worker, whose partially decomposed body was discovered inside his motor car last Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Shayne Perry, an entertainment coordinator of Coral Spring Village Housing Scheme, also in Trelawny.

The car was found in bushes, close to the Burwood Beach.

“We have not ruled out foul play,” one investigator told THE STAR. “The police will now have to wait on a post mortem examination to determine the true cause of death, but we are also investigating other avenues.”

The investigator noted that one theory is that Perry’s vehicle could have developed mechanical problems and run off the road, resulting in him being killed from injuries sustained in the impact.

Foul odour

Perry reportedly purchased the car last Tuesday, and drove it to work at the Royalton White Sands resort in Montego Bay on Wednesday. He then drove from the hotel compound Wednesday evening.

When family and friends realised that he did not show for work on Thursday, a report was made to the police, and an investigation launched.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, residents living in the vicinity of Burwood Beach smelled a foul odour coming from a section of bushes and went to investigate.

A search led to the discovery of Perry’s car, and his partially decomposed body, which was inside the vehicle.

The police were summoned, the scene processed and the body removed to the morgue for a post mortem.

“Shayne is a good youth, him jovial, full a fun, and very very kind hearted,” one colleague told THE STAR. “Him is a real vibes man, and I don’t know who and him don’t have a good relationship pon the entire hotel compound.”
