Sept. 21 — To the Editor:
While there certainly are a few affluent white suburban Republican Biden supporters finding comity in democrat circles, this is not the new alliance that will determine the upcoming elections. Traditional conservative Republican ranks are swelling by even greater numbers of African Americans, Latin Americans, Asian Americans, and working Americans of all stripes.
These Americans will not to be coerced into voting a certain way by union bosses, or taken for granted or lectured to about who you must vote for “to be Black”, or about whose thought is monolithic and whose is not; people from all walks of life are discovering the freedom and opportunity that Republicans fight for every day.
They are appalled at the rising crime in their neighborhoods and culture wars in their streets. They see that Democrat leaders refuse to sit down with black leaders like Senator Tim Scott to discuss sensible police reforms while they allow their neighborhoods to run amok with crime and decay. They realize that when we speak of doing something about improving educational opportunities for kids in failing schools, Republicans offer the freedom of school choice, the seminal civil rights opportunity of our time, a choice wealthier suburbanites routinely can afford their children in private schools. They realize that while Democrats talk a good game on minimum wage, Republicans, under this President, have delivered the best increases in real wage growth for low and middle-income folks in decades. They understand that real wage growth is a hundred times better than minimum wage mandates. The former stems from record low unemployment and greater opportunity in an expanding economy, the result of people having more of their own money to spend. The latter, taken together with higher taxes, is mandated, confiscated, and subsequently the cause of greater unemployment and slow growth, if not economic stagnation.
I am prouder than ever to be Republican. Hopefully, as our neck of the woods continues to blossom with an influx of people fleeing the overtaxed, crime ridden, defunded, heavily indebted, burning, failed cities and states run for decades by Democrats, they too will remember why they fled.
