LIMA, June 3 (Xinhua) — Peru has so far reported 178,914 cases of COVID-19 with 4,894 deaths, said the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
In its daily report, the ministry said that 10,101 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized to date, and 998 of them are in intensive care units and on ventilators.
As the country with the second-highest number of infections in Latin America, Peru has extended its lockdown to June 30 to contain the spread of the pandemic.
At the end of May, Peru began to relax its lockdown measures to restart the economy in 27 different fields.
