Police in Tufi wants better support from Government agencies and stakeholders with most of the communities living along the coast, policing the area requires boats, fuel, and other logistic support.

Tufi Rural Police Station Commander Senior Constable Benson Wataba told EM TV News, there are no proper records of policing, hampered by a lack of police officers and logistic support.

Constable Wataba says that support is needed urgently to combat the growing lawlessness in the area known for its tourist attraction.

Commander Wataba is the only regular police officer, he is backed by few reservist and community-based constables, who occasionally come on duty.

He says manpower and firepower is a need. There is no standalone police station for the local police in Tufi.

The local police commander is housed in a Government building for the local Ijivitari Administration.  Housing is another issue with the local police, a problem also for the local level government and district administration.

Commander Wataba is urging the local administration including the Oro Provincial Commander to seek funding to support policing in Tufi.
