Trinidad and Tobago’s team cyclists of Njisane Phillip, Nicholas Paul and Keron Bramble has been stripped of their gold medal at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru in August, while Phillip also lost his individual silver medal in the match sprint due to an alleged positive doping result at the games.

Pan Am Sports last week posted the new results from Peru in the team sprints and match sprint, which showed Paul keeping his top spot and gold medal in the individual ride while Colombian Kevin Quintero assumed the runner-up spot at the expense of Phillip, while Venezuelan Hersony Canelon serviced bronze.

Trinidad and Tobago had secured a one-two finish with Paul and Phillip at the event after Paul beat Phillip in a best –of- three ride-off for the gold medal on Aug. 3, 2019.

In the semi-finals of the match sprint, Phillip got the better of Canelon while Paul cruised past Quintero for the right to contest the gold medal race.

The new results for the team sprint event also showed Colombia taking the top position at the expense of T&T, ahead of second-placed Mexico and third Peru.

In a release on its website on Boxing Day (Dec. 26), Pan Am Sports Secretary General, Ivar Sisniega said the decisions were taken following an executive meeting in Fort Lauderdale, USA.
