Trinidad and Tobago has cashed in over US$30 million from the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament.

In a press release, CPL said it was an increase from the 2018 tournament which took place between Sept.4 and Oct. 12, which created a total income impact of US$30,347,003 for the country.

This represents an increase of 18 percent figure, with the tournament staging five group matches, the semi-finals and final as well as two historic women’s matches in Trinidad.

The release said in addition to the economic impact figure the Hero CPL employed 489 staff in T&T and filled 10,642 rooms during the 2019 event. With the final taking place in Trinidad there was a 15 percent increase in arrivals in T&T in October compared to the same month in 2018.

CPL Chief Executive Officer, Pete Russell said Trinidad and Tobago once again showed that this wonderful country is fantastic at staging world-class and entertainment events.

Two exhibition T10 matches were played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in South Trinidad during the final week of the competition, featuring the region’s top players.
