Eau Claire (WQOW) – Students at UW-Eau Claire shared African culture with the public through traditional dance, music and food on Saturday.
The event was the university’s African Student Association’s second annual African Culture Night.
The association treated guests to a buffet of different foods from their culture, performed songs and dances, played games and showcased fashion from different countries.
One student organizer said the event served as a way to teach others about African life.
“Learning more about different African cultures and getting to know a lot of things helps because it makes people understand what Africa truly is because it’s different from what the media portrays,” said Damiloa Olotu, treasurer of the African Student Association.
Olotu said her group is thankful to have an opportunity to showcase the diversity at their school.
